Self-Portrait

Picture
This was an extra credit assignment for Art History. I made it in about 20 minutes the morning before the final, but after rushing through it I am really happy with the way it turned out. The drawing of the man with the ball is one I did in freshmen year of high school. The plaster head is one I cast from a clay original, and was actually meant to be a self-portrait. The journal entries are from traveling in Asia and Mexico, and the star is a sketch I did of my first tattoo before getting it.

Time Well Spent.

For one of my intro art classes I had to use any sort of data set to create an image. I had four people record the destination or activity they were headed towards each time they used their car or bike over the course of a few days. Then I fit each definition into one of the following categories.

Eating, Drinking, School, Work, Errands, Exercise/Leisure.

I created pictures to represent each of the above actions, and then created a book using the images. Below are the scans of each page, click to enlarge.

Four:
"Alternative Vision"
(aka Stereoscopic Photography)

We were instructed to create a set of images that would appear three-dimensional when viewed through a stereoscope, and to make a character appear ghostlike by only including them in one of the images. Then to come up with a ghost story to go along with the image. But unless you have your childhood stereoscope laying around still, you'll just have to imagine. The border and background are textures from a bandanna. The story was created last minute, and is kind of sad.
